About Serpentine and the Journey creating BySerpentineStudio

By Serpentine

1. Where does "Serpentine" and "BySerpentineStudio" come from?

I am an English horse rider, I've been riding at a PATH certified therapeutic riding stable since 2022, the same time I began making fursuits. At my stable we work more on caring and understanding how horses function rather than becoming the best rider anyone has ever seen. Usually we will be riding a pattern around the ring, and one day I learned this interesting dressage pattern to ride called the "serpentine" which resembled a snake's movements. The serpentine in dressage is an exercise involving flowing, connected loops across the arena designed to improve horse suppleness, rider aids, and precision, with the three-loop serpentine being the most common type of serpentine. I loved the way it sounded to me, I personally pronounce it like sir-pen-tine, the tine is similar to the word clementine and not at all like teen. I have made my favorite dressage movement into my identity! The By part of BySerpentineStudio is mainly because when creating my shop, SerpentineStudio was already taken so I needed to change it up. The Serpentine part of BySerpentineStudio comes from my identity. The Studio part is there because I'm still not sure of a generic name for what I want to make, I love sewing and making costumes, but I could go from fursuits to clothing to 3d printed toys.

2. What inspired you to start BySerpentineStudio?

I was inspired to start BySerpentineStudio because I wanted to get my name out as a maker and person. I wanted to inspire others to create things and not rot away like I was doing before I had a reason to be creative. I really don't like seeing talent go to waste.

3. Can you explain what you make and its significance?

I make Fursuits and Therian masks, I am a Furry but not a Therian. I am an avid supporter of the therian community and that is why I provide my creative artwork masks towards them. Confused about what these terms mean? Read about them here
